For just $10 per person, it was all you could eat plus a chance for constituents and elected officials to socialize. Special guests from the Outagamie County Republican Party included Outagamie County Chair, Barb Bieber, and Treasurer Carl Soderberg as well as members from the Oconto County Republican Party, Barb Finger, Dan Tutas and Bob Norton.
Elected officials in attendance included State Senator Tom Tiffany, Assemblyman Jeffrey Mursau, Assemblyman John Nygren and Marinette County Register of Deeds Renee Miller. Each one addressed the group and talked about the issues they are working on in Madison and Marinette County. Special speaker Judge Jim Morrison spoke about the heroin issue in Marinette County and how they are addressing the problem.
Mike and Cora Gavigan organized the event with Co-vice Chair David Smail serving as Master of Ceremonies. The fresh sweet corn was purchased locally from the Jandt Farm. Entertainment was provided by the Men’s Quartet from Faith Baptist Church in Pembine and Cliff and Lila Teachout supplied the pies for the special apple pie sale.
Republican Party of Marinette County Chair, Shirley Kaufman was pleased with the event saying, “Our annual corn roast is not a fundraiser. It’s just a great way for people, whether you are a member or not, to come together in a relaxed setting and have a chance to talk with our elected officials and perhaps learn a little bit about our county party and the work we do.”
